Fire on Copper

Material study, annealed and hand-pressed copper sheet, 2026

Heat copper and it goes soft. After a year of experimenting with annealing, I bought a large stock of copper before prices rose and set out to press one big sheet over the steel torso, to make the same body in copper.

It was harder than I expected. What came out is a study rather than the torso, but the sheet kept every push and fold. The heat left its colours, oxidation began, and the surface became a landscape of its own.

Soft when heated, fully recyclable, never the same after a patina. Copper will be part of my work for a long time.
